Storybook Invitations

Storybook invitations are perfect for book lovers, a story theme or library theme.  For Julie and Aaron, they have a love for books and they wanted that to show through on the wedding invitations. During our consultation, Julie told me that her degree is in the study of chickens and that Aaron collects antique pocket watches.  She wondered if maybe I could incorporate that into storybook invitations.  The invitation was designed with a binding in the “book” and had the title The Time Has Arrived that was a play on the pocket watch.  The binding also has a library call number for Pride and Prejudice, Julie’s favorite book.

Inside the storybook invitation was a patterned pocket that held the rsvp card designed like a library card.  The invitation was four pages and had a bookplate style design with a rooster, chicken and pocket watch.  One of the pages had the pocket watch image with a quote from Pride and Prejudice and talks about the hour.  Directions and Accommodations fit perfectly on the third page and I titled it “sleep tight” for a play on the storybook invitation theme.  Envelope liners matched the pattern of the rsvp pocket and pale pink envelopes with a custom chicken stamp were printed with the same fonts and design as the invitations.

For the reception, we put the chicken and rooster monogram in pink foil on cocktail napkins.  Bookmark escort cards were a must with the storybook invitation theme.  Meal choices of beef, chicken and vegetarian were represented with the chicken from the invitations and a cow and a block of cheese.
