Airplane Wedding Invitations
Tina and David have a long line of pilots and military in their family. Expressing their love for airplanes and since Dave is a pilot, their wedding reception was held at the Henry Ford Museum particularly so they could eat under the 1939 Douglas DC-3 airplane hanging from the museum’s ceiling. When I met with Tina and David, they brought along aviation sectional maps and they wanted the aviation maps made into map envelope liners and map belly bands for their airplane wedding invitations.
I designed the military style save the dates with the US Army poster “We Want You” as inspiration. Vintage airmail envelopes were all designed and printed with the guest’s address in a vintage typewriter font.
The airplane wedding invitations were designed with a wedding logo. The logo has Christine and David’s names, wedding date, and an airplane. All of the headings and names are designed with a military stencil font. I designed the pilot theme wedding rsvp cards as a flight plan card. Since I was following the military theme, the guests respond with “affirmative” and “negative” and the number of passengers on board. Finally, the inserts continued the pilot theme with “final destination” as the reception location. “Overnight refueling station” was the heading for the accommodations.
Airplane Wedding Reception
Christine and David also have a love for coffee so I designed airplane labels for each coffee bag as escort cards. Each table marker was an airport code that Christine and David had flown into. Then the menus just had to be paper airplanes! And finally, I designed custom coffee cups with their logo and matching napkins.
