Katie + John:Bird Inspired Letterpress

Katie loved any invitation with birds on it – as do I. Katie contacted me last summer to design her invitations. Since then she had sent me dozens of images of invitations that she liked. If it had a bird and was letterpress, she loved it. So coming up with the invitation was a challenge since it wasn’t very apparent what style Katie liked – formal, whimsical, elegant? I started with three proofs, all different. From these, we both discovered that Katie wanted formal. She played a huge roll in the design since she is a designer herself. The end result became her image of the perfect inviation.

This detailing with the bird perched on Katie’s name is one of my favorite details.

Katie loved using a rose on the RSVP with a different pattern than the invitation.

I love the textured envelopes with the letterpress invitations and the sweet bird sitting on the wording.

Another of my favorite details is the reception card with the flying bird.

The outer envelopes are also textured and a stunning change from the standard envelope. I custom designed liners for the envelopes for a pop of color and surprise.
