Lauren + Matthew: Ribbon Wrapped Pocketfold

Lauren contacted me last November. Like a lot of brides, she sent over a photo of an invitation that she really liked, but from another designer. This is always a challenge. How do you please the customer, but not copy the other designer? Simple – you make it better and only use the other piece to inspire you. As someone who has had her work copied, I am extremely sensitive to this. I asked Lauren which elements of the other invitation were important to her. She mainly wanted an pretty ornament behind her wording and she wanted this amazing ribbon wrap around her pocketfold when it was closed. I sent these three invitation proofs to start. This is typically how I start the design process, with three proofs to give the bride options for layout, fonts, style, color and graphics. The third one was the final pick! Lauren loved the fonts, layout and ornamental scroll.

The inserts were next and I made headers on the top of each piece. Custom stamps were designed to overlay the RSVP card.

And of couse the other important element, the ribbon wrap.
