Chicago Wedding Invitations
Chicago wedding invitations just might be my favorite to design. Even though I’m in Detroit, there is just something about the amazing skyline, Lake Michigan and surrounding area that makes invitations with the Chicago skyline such an inspiration to design. Shannon’s wedding was taking place at the The Allerton Hotel in Chicago. She asked that I do a sketch of the hotel and highlight the Tip Top Tap Room. I did a sketch of the hotel with the Hancock Building in the background.
Kevin proposed to Shannon in a hot air balloon. That became another theme throughout the wedding invitations and reception. In the same sketched style as the Allerton Hotel, I did a sketch of the hot air balloon where Kevin proposed.
Their monogram was also inspired by another Chicago landmark, Giordani’s. Famous for their stuffed crust pizza, the rehearsal dinner was held there and became another inspiration for fonts and style.
If I had to explain to a client why custom invitations are a must for some clients, this invitation would be the perfect example. These invitations were more about the emotional and personal connection of the couple than most I have designed in the past.
