Gourmet New Year’s Eve Dinner
If you have followed my blog for more a long time, you may remember that I revealed the story behind the name “Gourmet Invitations”. If you are a new reader, you find that story here. This year was my New Year’s Eve to make another gourmet dinner. I prepared seven courses of food over three day’s time. We spent 6 hours eating, drinking and talking in the New Year with our dear friends of 18 years.
I had a lot of fun with the seven course menu this year and called it the “Diner Edition”. Each of the courses was named after a classic diner food. I am a huge foodie so each of the courses was something unique.
Eggs and Toast– Roasted Shallot Custard with a Homemade Buttermilk cracker served with Louis Roederer Champagne
Cold Cuts– Venison Carpaccio with Chocolate Sauce and Dill Oil
Noodle Soup– Duck Won Tons in Duck Consomme served with Londer Pinot Noir 2007
Bean Salad– Cannelini Bean Salad with Heirloom Tomatoes, Golden Beets and Avocados in a Red Wine Vinaigrette
Fruit Plate – Blackberry Soup and Sour Cream Sorbet
Mac and Cheese– The French Laundry’s Butter Poached Lobster with Marscapone Cheese Orzo served with Patz and Hall Chardonnay 2006
Lemon Pie – Lemon Curd Cakes with lemon Vanilla Bean Sauce and Poppy Seed Cream
This looks amazing Tifany! I’m very impressed. Those placemats look familiar 🙂 Love, Mom
