Kristen knew exactly what she wanted – aubergene and gold letterpress invitations that were formal yet whimsical. But that was as far as she could give me direction. We talked about some elements that were to be included – a chandelier was a thought at one point. But after I designed the frame for Heather’s invitations, I really wanted to design another one for a letterpress suite. Kristen loved the idea and the invitation set started to take shape.
The frame was a painstaking process. I started with a basis for the swirls and over many proofs, it took form with the engraved font for the parents’ names and different layouts that finally resulted in this gorgeous swirled frame printed in metallic gold letterpress and eggplant text.
The inserts were wrapped in a large piece of deep amethyst ribbon and then layered with a metallic gold sash printed with the guest’s names in eggplant.
The rsvp has a detailed line frame and swirls in the corners. A similar swirl frame is printed purple on the gold rsvp envelopes with custom monogram stamps.
Kristen really wanted a monogram for some of the pieces and I designed this one to go with the frame of the RSVP card and the swirls of the invitation.
Gold metallic envelopes with custom stamps completed the invitation suite.
