Washington DC themed wedding invitations are one of my most popular themes. Keisha found this Washington DC wedding invitation that I designed for Ashley and asked if I could design a custom DC invitation for her. She had a very clear vision for the design of the invitation. Keisha wanted the Washington DC skyline that her father had drawn to be blind debossed (where the design is pressed into the invitation with no ink). She also wanted to incorporate the DC area map onto the pocketfold of the wedding invitation.

I suggested that instead of doing letterpress with no ink, that I emboss the Washington DC skyline. It turned out beautiful on the metallic ivory cardstock. Since I designed custom printing on the invitation pocket, I did a die cut pocket printed with their monogram too. All of the printing in the invitation is metallic gold and the icons of the Washington DC map turned out beautifully. I designed the cardstock belly band with their monogram. It wraps around the invitation in a way that the reception location is visible on the pocketfold. Matching gold envelopes with digital calligraphy and custom Washington DC map postage stamps are a beautiful presentation for each guest.

Keisha’s Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium wedding was designed and planned by the talented Sara of Bella Notte. I designed the escort cards to look like polaroid photos of landmarks and iconic locations in Washington DC. All of the wedding paper for this Washington DC wedding reception has personal touches. Washington DC landmark table markers, the monogram lighting for the reception, cupcake signs, and even the monogram for the top of their cupcakes all tie the theme of the wedding together. Iconographic wedding itineraries for the bridesmaids and groomsmen have a silhouette image of the bride and groom.
